White River Productions has announced that Chris Lane has been appointed as the next editor of Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette following the untimely passing of founding editor Bob Brown in January. Lane, a Colorado native, joined the Gazette staff in August 2025 as Associate Editor. A lifelong model railroader, author, draftsman, and photographer, he also serves as a board member of the Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation.

Lane’s work has appeared in Railroad Model Craftsman, O Scale Trains, Railfan & Railroad, Gazette, Model Railroader, Colorado-Timetable, Model Railroading, and the MRIA Reporter. He has served as the editor since their debut of the On30 Annual in 2006, HOn3 Annual in 2009, and the Garden Trains Annual in 2020. In addition, Lane has edited several railroading books for White River Productions. He joined WRP in 2014 after stints with Carstens Publications, Model Railroading magazine and the Colorado-Timetable.
