Review by Charlie Getz
Bob reviewed the O scale version in the November/December 2021 GAZETTE. The HO version is identical but almost microscopic! The kit consists primarily of laser-cut wood parts, tarpaper, card door and white metal castings, 3D printed stools, chain, decals and signs and instructions. This is a nice two or three session project starting with assembling the pre-cut wall framing sections to form a square with siding overlayed. Shelving and counters are added along with cor-nice and roof. Two wooden shutters are held open with the provided chain.
Be-cause the interior is exposed, I decided to add an interior with a cut-down commercial wood stove casting, icebox and various cans and jars. The main counter does feature two delicate soda dispenser spouts plus a Coke button sign and garbage can and 55-gallon drum for the outside. One nit: the smokestack on the roof has no corresponding stove below unless you add one. I added an interior light, running the wire down the rear wall where it will not be visible. The 3D printed stools are excellent, and a few extras are included.
A choice of decal or printed signs is included; I chose the decals, applying them with no problems and my Lunch Shack was soon ready with the addition of a few figures. This is a sure-fire detail guaranteed to bring attention to your layout, and it was fun to assemble.
